Rear Shock to frame mount upgrade

After 20+ years on the road a weak area of the Vespa is the rear shock mount area on the frame cracking is known to occur in this area.My upgrade strengthens this area by adding an additional contact point requires drilling one hole to the side of the original.

Also When the stock mount does fail rider saftey is at risk creating a control issue and damage to the bike. I have heard of the shock puncturing out the back of the frame in one case !

There is a heavy threaded pin that is centered by strong urethane and encased in 1 1/2 square steel this is done as a fail safe measure .After years of use even if the urethane were to fail the rear shock pin cannot escape the steel outer sleeve.
